Create and switch profiles

Create a profile

1. Select Add in the main window.
2. Choose the target network adapter.
3. Enter a recognizable profile name.
4. Configure IPv4, IPv6, and DNS.
5. Save the profile.

Choose automatic addressing for DHCP networks. Static networks require a valid IP address and subnet mask or prefix length. Only specify a default gateway when the network provides one.

Adapter binding

IP Assistant binds profiles to stable adapter GUIDs. A profile can continue to find its adapter even when the Windows display name changes.

Windows may assign a new GUID after a network driver is removed and reinstalled. IP Assistant then attempts to rebind by the previous adapter name. If the name also changed, edit the profile and select the adapter again.

Activate a profile

Activate profiles from the main window or system tray. The service captures the current network state before making changes. If activation fails, it attempts to restore the previous state and reports the actual result.
